Financial Coverage
Gates Cambridge Scholarship 2023 provides the following benefits:
- The University Composition Fee at the appropriate rate
- During the first two years of a Ph.D. program, the maintenance allowance will be paid up to the point of graduation (£18,744 for 12 months at the rate for 2022-23; pro-rata for courses that last less than a year).
- One economy single airfare at both the beginning and end of the course
- Inbound visa fees & the cost of the Immigration Health Surcharge
- To attend conferences and courses, you can apply for academic development funding ranging from £500 to £2,000, depending on the length of your course.
- One child can receive a family allowance of £10,944, and two or more children can receive a family allowance of £15,612 (2022-23 rate). There is no funding provided by partners.
- As part of your Ph.D., you may apply to maintain up to your usual maintenance allowance while on fieldwork (other fieldwork costs should be covered by the University Composition Fee).
- During maternity or paternity leave, you may request an interruption of your studies for up to 6 months while continuing to receive your maintenance allowance.
